Tune in Tuesday, November 15th as KXLU Los Angeles presents Center Stage with Mark Gordon, featuring special guest filmmaker Matt Thompson. He will be talking about new virtual reality project AFTER. AFTER is a series of immersive journeys, where the audience can, for the first time, experience in a first person point of view, the exploration beyond death into the Afterlife, in ways conceived in the minds of humankind for centuries from every corner of the world. The series begins with episode 1: LUCY, where the audience will experience Lucy’s peaceful transition into the afterlife, and discover her surreal view of the world as a guardian angel. Living on the Moon, she’s entrusted with with helping people on Earth, but first she must find a way to comfort those she’s left behind.

MATT THOMPSON was recently featured in Variety’s Rising Stars profile for the top film students to watch around the country. He has written and directed 2 feature-length films and has been distinguished nationally for filmmaking endeavors. At 16, he wrote and directed a 90-min sci/fi feature film, “NIGHT SIGHTS”, which won the Jury Award for Best Feature Film at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth 2012, Seattle and took the Silver Award at the California Film Awards. It was then picked up by ITN Distribution at AFM, 2013, and has since been sold at international film markets around the world. Alongside Matt Law, he is a co-founder and director of independent production company, THE MATTS. He has been the recipient of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences student scholarship for 4 consecutive years and has won numerous film festival prizes for shorts and music videos, including the LA Shorts Fest, LA INDIE Fest, Action on Film Festival, Indie Fest USA, Joshua Tree International Film Festival and the Encinitas Film Festival. Matt was also a Semi-Finalist for the Student Academy Awards for his upcoming Spaghetti Western short, Wild West Fan Co. (Shot and co-edited by Matt Law). He is currently a senior at Loyola Marymount University’s film school as the sole recipient of the Albert R. Broccoli scholarship foundation. Matt is a space aficionado, obsessed with the shows House of Cards, Game of Thrones and Family Guy. Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg are his biggest entertainment idols because of the way they shaped culture and changed lives with stories. He hopes to do the same.
